Readuet Privacy Policy

Readuet ("Readuet", "we", "us") is a read-while-you-listen reading app: you provide an ebook and its matching audiobook, we align them, and the app lets you read along, tap words to learn them, and review vocabulary. This policy explains what data we collect, why, who processes it on our behalf, and the choices you have. Readuet is operated by the Readuet team. Information we collect

• Account information. When you create an account we store your email address and an internal account identifier. If you sign in with Google or Apple we store only the email address and the identifier your provider gives us — if your provider offers your name, we discard it. If you use "Sign in with Apple" and choose to hide your email, we only ever receive Apple's private relay address. We never receive your Google or Apple password.
• Content you upload. The ebook and audiobook files you add, and the aligned text, timing, and translation data we generate from them.
• Learning and usage data. Your reading and listening position, the words you save, and your vocabulary review schedule, so your progress syncs across your devices.
• Purchase information. If you buy a subscription or in-app purchase, the purchase is processed by Apple; we receive a confirmation of your entitlement (managed through RevenueCat) but not your payment card details.
• Notification identifiers. If you allow notifications, we store the push token your device's operating system issues to this installation, so we can tell you when a book has finished processing. It is removed when you sign out, turn notifications off, or delete your account.
• Diagnostic data. If the app encounters an error we may collect a crash/error report (including device model, OS version, and a technical stack trace) and aggregate, non-identifying performance metrics to keep the service reliable.

How we use your information

• To provide the core service: aligning your ebook and audiobook, streaming your audio, and syncing your reading position and vocabulary.
• To authenticate you and secure your account.
• To transcribe audio and translate words you tap, using the third-party processors listed below.
• To manage subscriptions and unlock paid features.
• To diagnose crashes and keep the service running.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.

Service providers (subprocessors)

We share data only as needed to run the service, with providers acting on our instructions:

• Hosting & storage — our application server (OVH) and object storage for your uploaded files (Cloudflare R2).
• Audio transcription — DeepInfra and/or Groq process your audiobook audio to produce a transcript for alignment. Both are contractually barred from using that audio to train or fine-tune models.
• Translation — OpenRouter (using Google Gemini models) translates individual words and phrases you tap, and generates your daily practice text. Every request we send is restricted to model providers that do not retain prompts or use them to train models; we never permit your book content to be used for model training.
• Sign-in — Apple and Google verify your identity when you use social sign-in.
• Payments & subscriptions — Apple (App Store) and RevenueCat process and manage purchases.
• Diagnostics — our self-hosted error tracker (GlitchTip) and monitoring (Grafana Cloud) receive crash reports and aggregate metrics.

Some of these providers may process data in countries outside your own, including the United States and the European Union.

Data sharing between users

To avoid processing the same book twice, an identical ebook + audiobook pair uploaded by different people is aligned once and shared. Other users never see your account, your reading position, or the words you save — only the processed book content is reused.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account from within the app (Settings → Account → Delete account); this removes your access, your reading positions, and your saved vocabulary. Processed book content is removed once no user retains access to it. Crash reports and server logs, which identify accounts only by an opaque internal id and never by email address, are deleted automatically no later than 90 days after they are recorded.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at the email above.

Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), audio and files are served through short-lived signed URLs, and passwords are stored hashed. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

Children

Readuet is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
